Why do people hoard/clutter?
1. Fear of letting go of the past (things hold memories/meaning)
2. Fear of facing the future
3. Fear of abandoning things which feel like abandoning self/others
4. Tenuous sense of self
5. A defense against getting close to others
6. Scarcity mentality—might need this later
7. An indirect cry for help/attention
8. A reaction to traumatic loss
9. A byproduct of shopping/shoplifting behavior
10. Learned behavior
11. Related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, perfectionism, procrastination
